Nurturing Faith Through Art: Inside The Fau Shop’s Vision for Children’s Islamic Wall Décor

By Natasha Dury

In a world where home decor often prioritizes trends over meaning, The Fau Shop offers a rare blend of beauty, faith, and emotional connection. Founded by Sefau Ntoman, a German-born African Muslim mother, The Fau Shop specializes in Islamic wall art designed specifically for nurseries and children’s rooms—spaces where imagination is sparked and values take root.

I met Sefau at a coffee shop in Dubai and found out that what began as a deeply personal mission to reconnect with her faith while becoming a mother has since blossomed into an inspiring creative venture. Today, The Fau Shop’s collections, including the beloved “Dua Collection” and “Dalia Collection,” have resonated with parents around the world seeking spiritual yet child-friendly artwork.

A Personal Journey of Faith and Motherhood

“I was born Muslim,” Sefau shares, “but growing up in Germany without a strong Muslim community meant my connection to faith drifted during my teenage years.” It wasn’t until she began traveling and experiencing other cultures that she felt the gravity of what she had lost. “I realized people were holding tightly to their identities, while I had let mine slip. When I became a mother, that realization hit harder.”

Faced with the profound responsibility of raising a child in faith she herself was relearning, Sefau was overwhelmed. “I didn’t want my son to feel like he had to lose a part of himself to belong. I wanted to nurture his identity from day one—with warmth, love, and faith.”

From Inspiration to Creation

The seed of The Fau Shop was planted when Sefau sought art that could reflect these values in her baby’s room. Failing to find anything that spoke to both Islamic heritage and modern nursery aesthetics, she began creating it herself—collaborating with talented Muslim female artists across the globe to bring her vision to life.

“I work with amazing Muslim sisters who bring each piece to life with intention and beauty,” she says. The quotes selected for each design are carefully chosen to be inspirational and easily understood by both children and parents. “It’s important that even mothers who are new to the faith have a starting point for storytelling with their children.”

The Power of Personalization

At the heart of The Fau Shop is personalization—names, special messages, and custom tones that reflect a family’s uniqueness. “We offer pieces that feel like an extension of the family’s journey,” Sefau explains. “This isn’t just decor; it’s a spiritual investment in a child’s emotional environment.”

Collections like “A Season of Mercy” highlight this balance—elegant calligraphy, soft color palettes, and gentle messaging that make ideal gifts for Aqiqah, Eid, or simply a sacred welcome to the world.

Designing with Intention

Sefau is equally thoughtful about color theory and emotional resonance. “We developed three categories—baby boy, baby girl, and gender-neutral. Some parents prefer earthy tones, others love soft pinks or blues, and I wanted something for everyone.” Their 2025 neutral palette even includes the Pantone shade Mocha Moose, aligning design trends with spiritual purpose.

Growing a Global Brand with Purpose

While The Fau Shop was born in Germany, its footprint is quickly expanding. “We now manufacture in 16 countries,” says Sefau. “It’s important to us and to the planet—that we print as close to the customer as possible. That reduces delivery time and our environmental impact.”

Now with a growing presence in the UAE and plans to extend across the GCC, Sefau is creating a global sisterhood through art. “We’re finding like-minded women who value beauty, quality, and faith—who don’t want something temporary but want to plant lasting seeds in their child’s room and soul.”

Final Reflections

For Sefau Ntoman, The Fau Shop is more than a brand. It’s a legacy of faith, motherhood, and creative healing. “I didn’t experience this kind of spiritual nurturing as a child—but I can give it to my children, and now to others too.”

In every brushstroke, prayer, and package, The Fau Shop carries the quiet hope that children will grow up knowing they are rooted in love, in identity, and in something beautifully bigger than themselves.
